who does she think she is

google this I can't wait for a screening I am anxious to see...

Motherhood

I wonder with the new tv series coming out In the motherhood and the movie  Who Does She Think She IS, which was shown at Sundance this past October if motherhood  is gaining interest as a theme in contemporary art or is it out there and I am missing it? In the trailer for Who Does She Think She Is one of the experts Courtney Martin states that themes such as motherhood have been ghettoized I wonder if this tv show will help or hinder. Either way I am happy to see more mothers portrayed than Mary.... there sure are a lot of us

mission statement draft

WAAM (Women Artists AND Mothers) is a visual arts organization dedicated to the vast and unique needs of women artists, who are also mothers. Our mission is to create a forum to discuss support networks, both emotional and fiscal to promote artistic creativity to flourish, while balancing the responsibilities of motherhood. We aim to raise public awareness and create programs that assist in this endeavor. Currently WAAM will exist as an online community, with an immediate goal to create meet up groups. You already made your choice, WAAM is here to celebrate and support you!

Introducing WAAM

So I am in the conceptual phases of creating Women Artists And Mothers. I want this to be a support network to discuss the unique and vast needs of art moms. I don't know maybe this will lead to a not for profit someday...but before trying to figure out the destination I wanted to throw this idea out and see if there was a desire for this kind of network... I mean fitness gyms have daycare why couldn't a studio? BALANCE and Guilt comes to mind endless juggling and feeling that everything is half. I am working on a mission statement to share soon
